This is very sad news. He sounds like the kind of teacher everyone hopes to have and most of us aren't lucky enough to meet.

I was fortunate to have him. I'd just wanted him to be still out in the world, being lucky for other people!

(Small world: Dr. Fiveash was a classmate of my dad's at Boston Latin. Our two families crossed paths at Audubon Society's summer Family Camp sometime in the 80s, and then again in the early 90s when I was in a Christmas Revels with Polly and her mother.)
