There is actually at least one Arbuckle talkie in existence. In the early 'thirties, studio heads finally agreed that enough time had elapsed since the scandal that they could risk putting him on screen again; and the resulting shorts pleased them enough to offer him a contract. At least according to the story I heard, he signed it and died in his sleep that night with a smile on his face.
