'Tis my delight on a shining night in the season of the year
Two things make a post if I say they do. One of them is really important.
1. Next Sunday—October the 28th—I will be taking part in the tenth annual Music to Cure MS at the Park Avenue Congregational Church in Arlington. This is the same benefit concert in which I have sung twice previously, offering an aria by Britten one year and some art songs by Fauré the next; I am now apparently fusing the genres with three of Britten's folksong settings, but you'll have to show up on Sunday if you want to find out which ones.
2. I have to ask the internet for help and I have no idea how to do it. I don't have a lot of practice. I barely have practice telling the internet how I'm doing, honestly; that's what this year has been for.
I need somewhere to live. My current situation is not viable. The complicating factors: I have somewhat specific living requirements and I am very poor. I started keeping an eye out for places in the spring; it took me until week before last to hear about one that was even faintly plausible in terms of finances and then it turned out for unrelated reasons not to be a workable option for me. (That was the demoralizing I mentioned a few posts ago.) So, being unable to fall back on a better plan: I'm asking my friendlist for leads. In an ideal world, I would prefer to move into the Somerville area, but at this point if you know anyone in Boston who's looking for a housemate, I'd like to hear about it. It will be very, very much appreciated.
Anyone who suggests I run a Kickstarter or just ask the internet for money, however, will be completely ignored.

(And actually, we've just determined via a quick chat that if something were to come up before New Year's, we'd certainly consider it. This is assuming all of the appropriate conversations were to occur, of course, as I know you've mentioned requirements, and sounding out compatibility is essential! Quite frankly, even James is at the end of his tether with our current situation now; I've been keeping an eye out for like-minded friends/acquaintances who potentially need to flat-share for months. If any of this sounds like grounds for a discussion, you know where to contact me *hugs*)

I wish I could offer any useful suggestions WRT your housing search. I'm acquainted with folk in the Irish music scene in Boston, but I've not heard any of them needing flatmates and I can't say as I know any of them well enough to say if ye'd get on. You've my most powerful hopes and wishes for your finding the place you need to find. And *hugs*, if you'd like to have the same.
ETA: Would you wish for me to ask on Facebook (which is pretty much the primary social network for trad)? I'd not use your name, obviously, (unless you'd want me to do so) but with a little better idea of what you need (Nonsmoking, I'd think, and willing to leave you your space, right? Would you prefer minimal parties? Most of my friends are the sort of people who'd sit round drinking and playing tunes rather than acting like stereotypical fratboys, but still... Are cats/dogs/etc, for instance, an issue?) I could at least put together a query.

I hope the housing works out really well and really soon. If I hear of anything from any of my Boston friends, I'll let you know.

crime...I do know of one person who is looking to move out of their housing, and who is friends with you, perhaps you can go in on this together? Or said person may speak up here. E-mail me for details if they don't?
Best of luck with both the concert and the attempted move. I am cheering you on.

Speaking of things I will be sad not to see in Boston: I learned, much to my dismay, that MassMouth was starting Folk & Fairy Tale StorySlams only this year, now that I have left. Previously, all their StorySlams have involved personal stories, and only personal stories. I am trying to figure out if there is any way I can get back in order to participate. They are Thursday nights, so it might be tricky. (http://massmouth.org/2012/11/nov-15th-2012-700pm-folk-fairy-tale-slam-ii/, if you are interested and have not heard about them.)
Unfortunately, I have no housing knowledge. I hope you find something workable soon!

* "VERY SMALL" is defined as "less than 300 square feet". The location is nice, though -- 2 blocks to main street -- and it's not as badly overpriced as most things here.
