'Cause it's sunlight where we flew, though the trail is cold above

It is the equinox. Strictly speaking, I slept through the changeover: I fell asleep at the end of summer and woke with leaf-light on the walls. It wasn't hurting me.

[livejournal.com profile] rushthatspeaks has posted on Daniel Pinkwater and Surrealism. The tag is my girlfriend dared me. I regret nothing.

[livejournal.com profile] greygirlbeast correctly described a band I've been needing for years: Giant Squid. They're like drowned Tom Waits. With more scientific names.

The father of a friend of mine won two Ig Nobels at this year's awards ceremony. First prize, one week . . . ?

If the rest of the season is going to be like this, I can live with it.

I feel like I've missed out, not reading Pinkwater as a kid. Any starting points you'd recommend?

I'm going to check out Giant Squid presently. Congratulations to your friend's father.

"Leaf-light on the walls" ... Yes, I imagine a canopy or tent with you cacooned inside.

I think you're just speaking of a room and slanted light, but still. :)

Happy Equinox!

I regret nothing.

Nor should you. 'Tis a great piece. I'd never thought of Pinkwater that way. Greatly enjoyed some of his books, especially the one with Attila the Pun.

They're like drowned Tom Waits. With more scientific names.

Clearly I'll have to check out Giant Squid when I'm home again.

Congratulations to him! (Or is that what one says? I hope so.)

Good things tend to happen to me as September heads into October, although last year was a marked exception to that rule. I'm cautiously holding my breath (the news about that antiquarian-book firm job is due to land literally any day now, and I'm nervous as hell). No clue what to expect.

I hope your autumn is splendid, and the rest of the year too.
