Does the story simply not posit the Pacific theater at all?

I don't believe it's mentioned once. Possibly the Pacific itself would have been unnecessary with America sitting out the war, but there should still have been Japan's invasions of Southeast Asia and this thing called the Second Sino-Japanese War. I may be criticizing the book for something it didn't claim to be doing, though—one of the characters in the Götterelektrongruppe seems to be turning the Reich's attention toward Britain, and she is the one playing the longest and least comprehensible (at least by ordinary, more or less sane people who cannot see the choice of futures like the fall of dice and reach out to cheat with them) game of her own. And to figure that out, I think we need the rest of the trilogy.

--I feel unbearable anxiety just reading that, but your next sentence leads me to believe that the ending is worth the anxiety. I wonder if the film's available in streaming Netflix...

I couldn't find it on Netflix in any form, but it can be watched on YouTube.
