This sounds like it might give The Thin Man a good run for its money in regards to patter, and any film that can do that can get my attention.

What do you mean by "patter" in this context? If the snappiness of the dialogue, you'll approve. Quintain, trying to talk his bleary-eyed way into a bar: "I stand on my constitutional rights." Doorman, unimpressed: "Go away or you'll be sitting on 'em." When Atterbury enthuses about jiu-jitsu as an expression of the principles of Archimedes, Plum shrugs: "All I know is, it comes in very handy when some guy who's driving you home tries to shift gears with your knee."
