And from what I gathered, the boy had been learning fast
It was not on the menu, but the bartenders made me a Bunny Hug.
(The waiter who carried the request said dubiously, after I described the proportions of the drink, that she'd pour it down the sink, too.)
It was terrific.
Here's to you, Mordecai.

Somebody took note of Mordecai's 100-somethingth birthday on tumblr the other day, and noted: "If you weren't fictional, Mister Heller, you'd be waaaay dead by now."

Only after the fact did I realize that should have been the toast when I drank it! I'll remember next time.

Aw.
Well, let's hear it for fiction.

Originally I had "Here's to you, Mr. Heller," but then I thought people who didn't read Lackdaisy would maybe think I was saluting the author of Catch-22. Who's fine, but I don't have any personal, humorously cocktail-related feelings in his direction.

Heh. I don't actually have a hangover. I never have; it's not one of those experiences I think I need.

I don't know the proportions, but the components are Becherovka, grapefruit juice, honey, and Peychaud's. I don't know if it's a variant of something else; I've never seen it anywhere but The Salty Pig.
I suppose there's a simple solution: the next time you're in town, that's where we go for lunch or dinner.

I think I'm developing a Mordecai crush. It's the pince-nez and disapproving expression!

I still love that you have a local bar of that name. It sounds so ominous about its effect on the clientele.

I started reading Lackadaisy because I wanted to know who the cranky-looking fellow with the glasses in the down-right corner was. The fact that the rest of the comic turned out to be a thing of meticulously researched, wittily drawn ultraviolent beauty was in many ways kind of a bonus.

I tend to zig-zag a lot after leaving, which is not extraordinary... If you're ever in this part of the world, I'll take you there.
I'll have to start reading Lackadaisy properly; the art's exquisite.

I **love** this idea.

Deal!

I really recommend it. I just wish I didn't have to wait . . .
