Jack of All Trades (2000), which clearly missed the swashbuckling/steampunk boom by just a few years.

Indeed - plus, Bruce Campbell is always fun to watch. Have you ever seen any Brisco County, Jr.? It's similar, and also stars Campbell, but it's a zany steampunk Western. Occasionally John Aston turns up as a mad inventor.
