yeah that's true, i've never understood the (seeming majority) of writers who just make it up as they go along. Fair do's and everything but it wouldn't work for me, I need to know exactly where things are headed. The thing is, particularly on longer stories, it doesn't matter how well you plan it when it comes down to it being written it often twists and bends. I think maybe it's like when you try and draw a straight line from one dot to join another, no matter how small the angle is off at the start, the longer you keep drawing the line the further away from its target it gets.
