but I loved Voice of the Fire, which feels to me like a psychogeography of the Midlands I don't know. I'd recommend it as a flipside to Iain Sinclair (whose work I also love).

I have seen that on shelves and never read it! If it reminds you of Iain Sinclair, I'll give it a try. [livejournal.com profile] rushthatspeaks gave me Rodinsky's Room for Hanukkah. I am constantly looking for Downriver in used book stores.
