I caught the latter part of Brute Force the last time TCM showed it, and was startled by Hume Cronyn playing a villain, mainly because I guess I grew up with him as an already-old character actor famous for playing pleasant, supportive parts, and for being married to Jessica Tandy. (I also hadn't known he was a screenwriter, either, or that the screenwriting he did was for Hitchcock, particularly on my formative fetish-fuel Rope!)
