Lackadaisy is a lot like Baccano! with cats. Less alchemy, more drinking, similar incidence of ultraviolence. It also looks like one of the more erudite comics this side of 2D Goggles: the artist apologizes for the inclusion of an anachronistic radio and the uncertainty of paper napkins. My favorite character appears to be a psychopathic neat-freak of a Jewish contract killer with no sense of humor, but a nice line in suits and pince-nez; I discovered him when he looked like the down-right corner here, but this is more his usual style. I suppose it's good to know my character tastes are intact even when they're all anthropomorphic cats.

I dreamed about watching lost silent films starring Louise Brooks. The last thing I was reading before bed was Diane Duane's Spock's World (1988), but evidently the '20's stuck.

Yes! (I may be maligning St. Louis' tenement values, but my current bets are on Mordecai as an expatriate of New York City, Lower East Side thereof.) Also cranky young Mordecai, reading: "nerdly, sullen, and desperately in need of personal space."
