For obvious reasons, I am very attached to this myth also.
I think you would like the novel.
And the Garage exists in my mind as a nebulous waystation of random restaurant ventures with such genius fare as baked potato pizza. (Nom.)
I wish it were still a nebulous waystation of random restaurant venues and bookstores, but I'll take cheap and delicious Indian street food.
