There are loose ends by the score

I have a schedule. How did that happen?

Today, I have an appointment with the Boston Passport Agency. My passport expired in February; I am going out of the country within fourteen days; I have a packet of paperwork and a book to wait with. This evening, I meet [livejournal.com profile] kenjari for the Post-Meridian Radio Players' Big Broadcast of 1946. Somehow I failed to notice until last night that this year's Byfar Hour is riffing on Arsenic and Old Lace, the play whose Capra-directed film adaptation introduced me to Peter Lorre, Raymond Massey, and Cary Grant (although not Edward Everett Horton, since I'm always surprised to see him there): I am looking forward. Tonight, I dream of sleeping.

Tomorrow, I catch a plane to D.C. I haven't seen [livejournal.com profile] strange_selkie and [livejournal.com profile] darthrami since December, which is only exceeded in stupidity by the fact that I haven't properly met my godchild. Feeling her kick at a baby shower doesn't count.

Saturday, assuming I haven't disintegrated from lack of sleep, I attend Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity. I hope also to see B. while I'm in the area.

Either Sunday or Monday, I return from D.C. in some fashion still to be determined. I have a round-trip reservation, but it may need to be altered for logistical reasons. If Sunday, I hand out Halloween candy in Lexington. If Monday, I observe the same ritual in Rockville. I return on Sunday. I blame the Boston Passport Agency.

Tuesday I am a responsible citizen and I vote.

I collapse for a few days.

Next Friday, Tosca at the Boston Lyric Opera with [livejournal.com profile] fleurdelis28 and [livejournal.com profile] sharhaun. I get up the next morning and fly to Vancouver. Admittedly I saw Mike as recently as August, but he's lived in Canada for the last three years and I have not yet managed to visit him; I'll be returning on Veterans' Day. Hence today's procurement of a passport, which I should stop writing about and go accomplish.

After that, I imagine I don't move for a few weeks.

Is Vancouver where WorldCon is happening? Have a great trip! And enjoy the rally, if you do go. (I saw little clips of Obama on the Jon Stewart show this morning and enjoyed them.)

Sounds busy but fun! How great that you're going to Jon Stewart's rally.

Hi, Sonya. Two quick things ...

1. Have you seen Agora yet? I watched it last night and was deeply moved.

2. You're coming to Vancouver? How packed is your schedule? Care to take a ferry over to Vancouver Island and meet the sheep?

Cheers.

She has never met a being with hair of quite that length. You can braid, right? And for heaven's sake don't wear doobly earrings. We have the grabbiest baby that ever lived.

Yay a reason to clean the guest room!
