I have just finished the first series of Foyle's War (2002—), which I started watching on ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
gaudior's recommendation and which is exactly as excellent as she claimed. I had heard of the show, but I had not realized its protagonist was played by Michael Kitchen, who so impressed me as the diabolical Martin in Brimstone and Treacle (1976). He's quite good here, too.
My poem "Apotropaism" has been nominated for the 2010 Dwarf Stars Award.
BFI Screenonline's highlights this week include Eric Portman: "A uniquely intense actor who created complex, troubled characters like A Canterbury Tale's 'glue man', he was a surprising 1940s box-office draw." I approve of this, since mostly I see him appreciated online by that one person who vids his movies to Kate Bush on YouTube.
I don't know why it is that I should go around the house singing "Surabaya-Johnny" and "I'm Henry the Eighth, I Am" when I'm happy, but there you go.
