Still wrapped up in the old punk protocol

Last night at Anita's invitation, since their lyricist-vocalist is one of her new housemates, I went to hear Lucretia's Daggers at Great Scott. Thanks to an unspecified accident on the line, however, no trains ran out of Alewife for about forty-five minutes; the paperback of Peter Dickinson's Tulku I had gotten from Saturday's book fair barely lasted me past Central Square, and I arrived in time to hear only the last three or four songs, including a cover of (naturally) the Sisters of Mercy's "Lucretia, My Reflection." I am therefore leaving far more time than I need to get to the Paradise Rock Club tonight, where Eric and I have tickets for Amanda Palmer. Not going to miss that. If I'm really lucky, she'll perform "Bank of Boston Beauty Queen."

Is anyone else having trouble with comments notification? I keep having to check my older posts in order to find replies and it makes me feel at once neurotic and egotistic, never mind comments I've left in other people's posts . . .

I was having problems with comments notification last week, but it seems to be working okay now. I hope.

I heard from someone else on my friends list that they'd been having trouble--as for me, I have trouble intermittently; I tend to check back to look for responses if I remember (but I don't always remember...)

It's probably gremlins from the server move.

I love Tulku, and haven't read it in far too long.

No trouble with comments, as far as I know... How recent is the problem? (Because I had a couple of unexpected replies on older posts which came through just fine, but that's probably before the move, so...)

Reply to Joe Haines is a great song. I love Norma Waterson.

Unspecified accidents are very irritating.

I hope you enjoy the concert tonight!

Hmm, I'm not sure about comment notification--I did have one that came in late, I know. Will keep my eye out, to be sure, at least in the figurative sense.

Yes, but what did you think of Tulku?

I've been having exactly the same thing re comments, all day (tho' they are starting to trickle through now). People tell me it's a moving-server thing.

And, Peter Dickinson!! No, he doesn't take the top of your head off; he's slower than that, and more insidious. You sit up two weeks later and realise you're still thinking about him, all unexpectedly. You need to read "The Blue Hawk", also the Changes trilogy. Then you'll know.

Interesting that you opt for the very early ones.

I think The Seventh Raven is my favourite. Also Healer.

Try the crime fiction, too: The Glass-sided Ants' Nest (which might be called Skin Deep), Sleep and his Brother, Hindsight.

And for something completely different, A Flight of Dragons and Hepzibah.

Lots of good stuff on his web site.
