So we'll pay you with the foresheet and a promise from the sea

Apologies for the radio silence. With the exception of a brief break on Thursday to watch a couple episodes of Blackadder and the pilot of Reaper (which I liked; Ray Wise is no Ray Walston, but he is a very creditable devil all the same), I have been essentially welded to my computer since Monday. So; news.

I am in an anthology with Gene Wolfe and Tanith Lee. And many, many other awesome people, but I did not grow up reading most of them. This is unexpected, in a very good way.

I did not win the SFPA 2007 Second Annual Poetry Contest. This is not even remotely unexpected. But my entry "Letters for Nereis" will appear in a chapbook drawn from the top-voted sonnets, which makes me happy.

[livejournal.com profile] lesser_celery has accepted my story "Bones and Bitters" for the next issue of Not One of Us. Technically it is an excerpt from a much longer story in progress, which I am hoping to complete in a slightly less ridiculous amount of time than the next item on this list; it is about vampires and a nonexistent tarot, and probably more violent than most things I write.

And lastly, as [livejournal.com profile] greygirlbeast has already announced, my nearly a novella "The Salt House" will appear in this month's Sirenia Digest. It is the longest piece I have ever completed in my adult life, in some ways the most difficult, and I am very proud of it. If by some quirk of chance you have not already subscribed to the digest, consider this an incentive to do so.

Now I can read Farthing.

So you should be proud of that story. Ezra, for me, is the anchor; but the mingling of myths, of dreams and diurnity, water and shore, is done beautifully.

Nine

What fantastic news! Way to go!

I shall definitely consider subscribing to Serenia Digest.

Excellent on all fronts! I look forward to one day reading it.

Congrats! That's very cool. (Well, not the part about being practically welded to your computer, unless it was 100% voluntary.)
