"Eco-numinous" brings to mind Koyaanisqatsi, but I think we can all agree that it's a bit light in terms of plot, so it misses the conspiracy train that Defense of the Realm and Edge of Night jump aboard so nimbly. While trying to think of other eco-numinous movies I kept coming up with a snippet of song, a beautiful female voice singing about something in the sun. Eventually I figured out I was remembering Joan Baez singing at the end of Silent Running. Its last images do I think qualify as eco-numinous, perhaps even techno-eco-numinous, but unfortunately they fail to overcome the colossal dumbness of the rest of the movie. At least it had good intentions. I'll keep thinking; I'm sure there's something that would perfectly complete the triple feature.
