Geoffrey Hill rocks. I taught bits of
Mercian Hymns
once, and regretted it as too ambitious for English comp.
(I know little of modern poetry; Hill crossed my radar because of a Nicholas Howe essay; Howe was an Anglo-Saxonist.)
