Anthony Quinn is such a great example of this! I know that stage names were absolutely typical for so many actors back then, but in the case of POC actors, it intensified the masking. I'm thinking of Gilbert Roland--just off the top of my head, he played Russian, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese charcters, and also a bunch of Latin lovers, of course, because POC actors are not only interchangeable but also one-dimensional stereotypes. (And even though he used his real name, I absolutely have to mention César Romero here, because of the multiple ways in which he had to pass/perform. And also because he was awesome.)
