The traditional carving of pumpkins was observed this evening with my husbands and nineweaving who had brought me for my birthday, all the way from Aberdeenshire, a smoke-fired seal.



It looks in person like a cave painting that can be held on the palm. The potter is named Nicola Seal.



An owl, a cat, and a genius cucurbitae.

We ate pizza and drank mulled cider and wrestled pumpkins into illuminable shapes and my mother figured out how to rescue a salad dressing and I was able to give rushthatspeaks his present of the latest Greil Marcus and spatch and I fell asleep on the couch for two hours as soon as we got home. Earlier in the day we had sighted a dramatic presence of turkeys on the street. Apparently the weird pop instrumental we caught on the radio on the way home was the bassoon solo in Cilla Black's "Anyone Who Had a Heart" (1964).

Alas, that bassoon was rather the best choice made in that instrumentation...
