Haydn, "Military" symphony. 1. Allegro
Okay, so there's armed conflict going on, but I can't interpret the results either way.
Schubert, Impromptu in E-flat Major
No points either way.
Serene Ecstasy: The Light and Sorrow of Orthodox Russia.
Pavel Chesnokov: "O praise our Lord"
In Russian. I'll pass.
Mozart, Don Giovanni. "Batti, batti"
"Peace, peace, my love; we will pass nights and days in contentment and joy."
I think that counts as a win.
Rose of Versailles opening
"Roses, roses, they bloom in dignity;
roses, roses, they scatter in beauty."
And that's one for the zombies. But at least it's an
utsukushi
(exquisite) death?
Giovanni Gabrieli, Canzon No. 1, for five parts
Can we have something with words, please?
Mozart, The Abduction from the Seraglio: "Hier soll ich dich denn sehen"
"I have suffered so many sorrows, o Love;
now grant me joys in their stead and bring me to my goal."
I think that counts as a win.
Mozart, The Abduction from the Seraglio: "Welche Wonne, welche Lust"
" . . . prophesying comfort and rescue."
Another point for me!
Handel, Sonata for Trumpet, Strings and Basso Continuo: 2. Gigue
No point either way. I think I'll start skipping the orchestral music unless it can be obviously interpreted.
Purcell, Dido and Aeneas: "Fear no danger to ensue"
Oh sure, that's a win. (As long as we ignore what happens to Dido afterwards.)
Giovanni Domenico del Giovane da Nola, "Cingari siamo venit'a giocare."
The zombies have become gypsies?
Schubert, "Der Strom" (Sung by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau)
I can't find the text right now, so I'm skipping it.
Donizetti, Lucia di Lammermoor, "Il dolce suono" (Mad Scene)
*snerk* Definitely one for the zombies.
Orff, Carmina Burana: "Tempus est iocundum"
One for me, I think. And the final score is L'Ignota 5, zombies 2!
