Rabbit, rabbit! In the beginning there was construction. Then there were plumbers. Then when I left the house in search of sleep there was a cement mixer. No points to Slim Gaillard. spatch heroically held down the home front and reports that a section of pipe was removed from between the floors which was dotted with little holes which turned it into a fountain in the event of any kind of drain clog. Why it was not discovered during the previous visitation of plumbers was not vouchsafed to us. Now we wait again for a new ceiling. My mother has six monarch caterpillars and one chrysalis and while walking in the afternoon I passed a lily that looked as though it should be starring in a sci-fi horror film and some purple-headed bush so full of bees it was humming. Lead flat tired otherwise. I have been shown this spectacular photo from the Olympic surfing and feel honor-bound to respond with Duke Kahanamoku, who was at the 1912 Summer Olympics as a swimmer rather than a surfer since the sport he popularized and championed would not enter Olympic contention until 2020, but why pass up any opportunity?

I remembered a friend describing a comedy sketch about a party where most of the guests are triffids, and went looking for it. Haven’t turned up the sketch, but it turns out there’s a restaurant/club/event space in Brisbane called The Triffid, and searching “triffid cocktail party” gets you results like “The Triffid just announced— Espresso Martini Party!”
