The years have flown along

Rabbit, rabbit! For the first time in nearly a week, I slept what most people would consider a normal amount. I do not appreciate having political nightmares only to wake for [personal profile] spatch to tell me the latest news. Having no garden to cultivate, I walked around and photographed flowers.

The latest of the different colors of roses to bloom in shifts in our driveway.

I have no idea what these pale lanterns belong to. I worried a little from their tangle of pods, but they seem at least not to be an invasive swallow-wort. [edit] Per [personal profile] asakiyume, they are yucca and not invasive at all and edible!

The mimosa on North Street has started to bloom. I sent my mother pictures. The little one in her yard—a gift this spring from my father—is thinking about it.

An utterly unperturbed rabbit.

These hydrangeas filled a street corner in such shade that their blue seemed to saturate the air around it, so I dove in.

I felt for this sign.

I didn't recognize this flower, either, an entire clump of them waving at the corner of a yard. [edit] Gaillardia, according to [personal profile] pameladean and [personal profile] aurumcalendula.

These irises seemed worthy of comment.

So did these.

The bucket loader parked at the top of our street is not unattractive when not waking everyone up.

Like everyone else, I am in sincere sympathy with this panel of Calvin and Hobbes.

I'm pretty sure it's blanket flower, Gaillardia.

Also, I think the irises are actually fancy day lilies.

When plant breeders get the bit between their teeth, it can become much harder to identify things.

I think the red and yellow flowers might be gaillardia? (I saw some at a store today that looked like your photo)
