It's a fool who doesn't see what I see watching trees
My poem "The Same Fur Coat" has been accepted by Strange Horizons. It was written this spring for
selkie's birthday. I am toast across the board and frustrated by nearly every angle of this month so far, but wish to commemorate that this week did contain something good.

I love that. And honestly, with the shipbuilding in Belfast and the tradition of immrama, any sightings of the Titanic might as well land in Ireland's lap as anyone's. (I got nothing on Mexico.)

Some more tumblr, a bit less amazing, but hopefully still cheering, and slightly more than I'd realised - don't feel obliged to follow every link unless you wish to:

Thank you! They have published my work before—and I was one of the poetry editors for about seven years, during which time I could not of course send them anything for obvious conflict of interest reasons—but I still rate it a big deal.

And a question: do you mind sharing whether you're generally selling to the same editor at Strange Horizons (and if so, who), or if it's been all over the place? I'm trying to get a sense of their tastes, and it's made hard by them not listing who bought a given poem.

I don't mind and I don't even think it's a secret, since the magazine lists its reading periods by editor. My acceptances with the current staff have come from Romie Stott, with whom I have the luck of my work being simpatico even when it doesn't make the final cut. They have wide-ranging tastes; we often picked very different poems when we were part of the same editing team.

* "When I saw in your cover letter that you have no poetry credits, I thought 'surely that's not true' and searched the Strange Horizons archive. So although I'm declining this poem, you are writing good enough poetry that I already think of you as one of our poets.

That's wonderful and I hope you very soon do.

I ket meaning to mention how much it surprised me that in at least two of those screenshots he looks as though he could be played by George MacKay, a likeness which had not occurred to me before.

Congratulations! And now I shall follow the fic rec.
