I have seen The Blue Gardenia, The Unfaithful, and Outrage, and I will have to watch this one.
It's really interesting to me how they all have different strengths and concessions, but they all exist. And I don't think I've seen criticism on them collectively—other kinds of female-focused noir, but this movie wouldn't have hit me so hard upside the head if I'd known to look out for the pattern.
Are there any actual UCLA locations in the film?
Yes! I wouldn't swear to the interiors, but the exteriors are the campus. I suspect most of the student extras were just students.
This is yet another movie I wish I could have asked Sam Jaffe about!
He's wonderful in it. Romley is such a natural denizen of the crime lab, seeing him by daylight is slightly weird.
