I did see the wafer-thin chip of moon the other day though. The sunset wasn't as brilliant this far into the Midwest though.
They're not always like this. The most spectacular, flaming ones seem to be in winter; I'm not sure why. Summer sunsets are the more drawn-out, lingering kind.
