I just don't *get* that notion of love--and as you say, the static-ness of it--at all. How can that be her experience? Things are always changing; people are always changing; dynamics are always changing--how can it be that she things romantic love ends up in that frozen winner-loser scenario? ... Rhetorical question, but...
