Change my hair, change my dress, change my head

I am watching a lot of movies I don't have the energy to write about. I am in a severe state of wanting to fire my body into the sun. Have some links.

1. Courtesy of [personal profile] rushthatspeaks: Bela Lugosi sculpting his own bust.

2. A non-comic, very good use of Operation Mincemeat in a poem: Dan Johnson, "Between the Wars."

3. Klaus Nomi's recipe for lime tarts. I had no idea about his day job.

4. If you have always wanted an Arthurian Arsenic and Old Lace, then look no further: "Mordred comes back, on the lam, with his unhappy girlfriend, La Belle Dame Sans Merci. She tried to change his face to make him less recognizable but was drunk on fairy wine and made him look like Prince Maleagant, specifically from Act 2 of the French musical where his face is partially a skull."

5. Ditto, but it's a Gef T-shirt. For the extra extra clever mongoose in your life.

I don't know how much I want to see the movie, but I love the description of Kate Dickie in Shepherd (2021): "a one-eyed ferry operator who keeps a stuffed crow on her boat." I hoped the film could spell psychopomp. I was even happier when I found a picture of her. She could play Greer Gilman's Brock.

I tried the lime tart recipe years back— the flavour is delicious, but I couldn’t get it to set. Possibly it would be good as a frozen dessert.

The phrasing of the lime tart recipe cracks me up. "It takes lime peel and cut it into thin strips. It place the lime peel on top of the pie."

IT PUTS THE LOTION ON ITS SKIN!!!!!

Here's to actual energy sometime! ♥ (I hear it can happen, although I do not personally believe in it myself - I hope you may, though!)

LOL!

Do not fire your body into the sun unless you have a backup one! (If only.)

I am quite boggled by the idea of an Arthurian Arsenic and Old Lace, but in the best way.

Those are great photos of Bela.

I didn't know that about Klaus Nomi either!

Sculpting your own bust is taking selfies to a much more serious, permanent level!

... I wish the Arthurian Arsenic and Old Lace came with illustrations...

That picture of Kate Dickie is beautiful.

Glad that you're getting to enjoy lots of movies, and bummed that you are frustrated by the lack of energy. I hope your strength gathers soon.

I just found out I'm moderating a panel on "The (new) Golden Age of Movie Musicals" at Arisia, and my first thought was that, if we were in a non-pandemic timeline, this might well have been a panel we'd be on together.

She could play Greer Gilman's Brock.

She'd be awesome, in its deeper sense.
