I might drown into you
My life right now feels very bare and very scheduled at the same time—I am maintaining myself and others and that's about all I have time for—but I got out for another walk this afternoon. Naturally the sun came out as soon as I got home, but I think
pameladean may be right that some things are more luminous by overcast.

The magnolia looks especially dragonish to me this year.

The weeping cherry is beginning to blow to the sidewalk, but its blossoms can still pour down out of the sky. You just have to look up.

Close-up in the grey.

This magnolia looks leafy sea dragonish.

My camera has a hard time with contrasts, but I like how it caught the window-sky.

From my office window as the sun came out.
Have some links.
1. I was reminded by conversation with
larryhammer that I had never actually seen the official music video for TLC's "No Scrubs." Their futurism still looks great.
2. I first heard Morcheeba on a mix made for me nineteen years ago by
selkie, so I am pleased to discover their latest single is so subaqueous: "Sounds of Blue."
3. Courtesy of
moon_custafer: I too would have enjoyed a Ronald Colman Moriarty, but in all honesty I am reposting mostly for Sydney Carton winking. I was introduced to Colman with A Tale of Two Cities (1935) and may always think he looks his best minus the mustache and plus a slight hangover.
I did not expect the conviction of Derek Chauvin. I am glad of it. I hope it is a beginning and not a blip.

I think I first noticed the phenomenon of the overcast in relation to fall color. We'd gone out a bit glumly to look at trees under an overcast, and they just GLOWED.

Entertaining as it might be to Jack Benny my way through life, I have reached the point of counting each year I aten't dead as some kind of victory, so you can remind me I said that when I have a midlife crisis next year.

Thank you!

Yes! Autumn is like that. I don't think I paid as much attention to other seasons, but spring is definitely like that, too. (A liminal thing.)

And that's why we have a half-life to celebrate.

I've had both versions trading off in my head since night before last.

And looks lastingly influential to me, although people who know more about pop music than me should feel free to dispute. (I got to Left Eye's mid-video rap and thought, "Oh, there's half of Grimes' costumes.")

That's lovely.

Thank you. A bed of velvet for the gems to set on.

For calibration, one possible precursor I thought of, Janet & Michael Jackson’s “Scream,” turns out to be three years later.)ETA: Argh - actually, "Scream" was 4 years earlier -- I misremembered the release date of "No Scrubs", which was 1999. Quoth Wikipedia:
(Confession: I spent the better part of 94-95 crushing on Left Eye, largely from her dancing in the "Creep" video.)

We had a beautiful lightning storm here yesterday.

thank you for the morcheeba link -- I love their stuff but hadn't kept up with recent releases!

Nice.

I wouldn't have predicted the futurism, either, but I like it!

You're welcome!
