My life right now feels very bare and very scheduled at the same time—I am maintaining myself and others and that's about all I have time for—but I got out for another walk this afternoon. Naturally the sun came out as soon as I got home, but I think pameladean may be right that some things are more luminous by overcast.



The magnolia looks especially dragonish to me this year.



The weeping cherry is beginning to blow to the sidewalk, but its blossoms can still pour down out of the sky. You just have to look up.

I don’t know enough to dispute it. (For calibration, one possible precursor I thought of, Janet & Michael Jackson’s “Scream,” turns out to be three years later.)

ETA: Argh - actually, "Scream" was 4 years earlier -- I misremembered the release date of "No Scrubs", which was 1999. Quoth Wikipedia: The Hype Williams-directed music video was released in 1999, which depicted the three members dancing inside of a space station. It was compared to other music videos such as "Scream" (1995) and "What's It Gonna Be?!" (1999).

(Confession: I spent the better part of 94-95 crushing on Left Eye, largely from her dancing in the "Creep" video.)
