O leave the dead behind us, for they cannot come away

The obligatory 2¢: it is an unaccustomed and not entirely unpleasant feeling to read about politics and not be depressed out of my mind. For once, I think that perhaps my vote may have counted. Now I hope the Democrats will do something productive with their majority in office, rather than simply be less unpleasant than the people they have replaced.

Yes, I was in a celebratory mood on Wednesday, and surprised myself by feeling hopeful when I listened to the news. I don't think it was so much complete faith in the democrats (but, yes, let's hope they do something productive!) but a renewed faith in people and what they want for the country.

You counted the votes!

I'm just so pleased.

By the way, I just this morning re-read "The Marriage of Iphis and Ianthe" in Mythic 2 and I still love it, and I still can't tell if I love it so unreasonably much because I know all the people. It's a terrific poem.
