All the cities that we burned down

Rabbit, rabbit! To inaugurate Pride Month, I spent most of the day doing laundry, but that's because very early tomorrow morning I am leaving for New York. I did manage to drop by [personal profile] gaudior's birthday party, where I helped light a dramatic amount of candles on a cheesecake without setting any household objects or people on fire, except slightly my thumb.

I have still not written a speech in the event of winning a Lammy. The concept appears to exist at the exact intersection of Tiny Wittgenstein and tempting fate. I'm working on it.

I think my extensive plans for tonight are pack and collapse.

This is why I have not yet actually applied for financial aid, because it's *presumptuous*.

(Also, ow. More ice than you think you need.)

I know of no Lammy webcast, and I'm not sure if anyone will tweet the results live. So while Sam Mussabini in Chariots of Fire knew that Harold Abrahams had won the 100 meters, because he saw the Union Jack rise above the Paris stadium, and we know know the results of papal votes by puffs of smoke, I must anxiously await your blog post.

Ursula Vernon's solution to "I cannot write a speech for winning" tends to be "I will write a funny speech to share at the afterparty where all the losers share what they would have said had they won", which because it's Ursula tends to turn into "this is a speech from the AU where I won and also everyone is giant chickens" or perhaps "let me tell you about whalefall!" If I am ever nominated for anything that will require a speech should I win, I may attempt that method, because yeah, it seems like it would be pretty terrifying.

(If this skates too close to being advice, please feel free to bop me on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper. :S)

Have a wonderful trip! (Tell Tiny W. that I think you have an excellent chance of winning a Lammy.)

Ouch! I am sorry about the candles. I was fuddled by early hours and fresh air.

Good luck with the Lammy. It's well deserved.

You are not Ursula Vernon, but what she does with webcomics and stories about weasels and cheese knives, you do with poetry and movie reviews - give us a glimpse of a brighter, better world.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's whether you scythe the ballroom clean of swag.

If you do win, it is richly deserved and you say "(*undefinable blap noise*)...Thanks!"

If you don't win this year, there will be radiantly beautiful people of all and no genders in their finery, so you will at least have a good view amidst the passed hors d'oeuvres.
