a) Women in Noir is as good a theme as any for a book.
I've been trying to decide whether I really can use The Movies Men Don't See as a title. It's clever, but it feels like an overstatement, but it also describes my relationship with so much noir criticism which is mostly male-authored. I should focus on some female-authored noir criticism and see if it goes better. I should get past this paralytic block about publishing anything that could be construed as academic.
b) [I]n so many stories, only the child recognizes the monster the adults miss. Ahahahahaha. Is this a canon thing? Is it a trope? Jesus. I wish anybody'd told me. You can't fight a trope while you live in it.
I have seen it often enough that I would call it a trope, also a real-world phenomenon, yes. It's hard to see the story from inside. You still took yours down.
Edit: c) You have succeeded in making me want to see this film! I wonder if we have TCM on the fancy box.
Hooray! I believe TCM to be accessible on Roku, if that helps. Otherwise I can poke at corners of the internet.
d) They Saved Hitler's Brain ?????
It's not supposed to be good! I've never actually seen it. I am fond of the punk songit inspired: "He's riding around in the back of a staff car / His body's gone, but his brain's in a glass jar."
