I don't know if it helps any to know that having tech employer sponsored health insurance does not free one from kafkaesque paperwork nightmares, as I endeavor to prove to my employer two things: that my husband's employer inexplicably starts their health insurance year on Nov 15 instead of Jan 1, and thus we have no insurance right now and I would very much like to have it, because while I am not intending to have a medical emergency in the next six weeks, one doesn't exactly get to schedule these things in advance that my child is my child, because for some reason, in this two thousand eighteenth year of the common era, employers cannot fathom why a mother would have a different surname than her child.
