Movies: my favourite is Das Haus in Montevideo (1950 version, not the 1963 remake). Which is also one of the two evergreen plays. My other favourite film of his is Napoleon ist an allem schuld, which is the last one he made in Germany before getting the hell out of there with his wife in 1938.
Your descriptions of both of those sound delightful, especially the Napoleon fandom. Thank you! I hope I can find either of them in this country.
The other still staged play, however, is Dr. Hiob Prätorius.
Nice. Have you seen People Will Talk, so that I can ask you how the versions compare? In 1951 Hollywood, the Mankewicz film is seriously strange.
(Another memorable Goetz play you might like that has been filmed is the 1922 Ingeborg, in which the titular heroine is in love with two men, doesn't want to give up either and gets the sound advice from her aunt to keep them both.)
That does sound like something I should check out.
One read thread through much of his oeuvre is that one or several of the main characters are married, and it's usually already an established marriage, which may get complicated but always has humor and affection. Which I don't need to tell you is rare in the genre.

Yes. And definitely something I enjoy watching.
