That doesn't surprise me either. Check out the career of William Haines sometime. I only ever saw him in one movie—Show People (1928) with Marion Davies—and he's so good and I looked forward to seeing so much more of him, especially in the sound era, and if Hollywood hadn't been so homophobic, that's what I'd have done.
