I sort of think of his look in the movie as half Dwight Frye, half young Orson Welles.

I can see I am going to have to pony up for the DVD, because that is wonderful.

Watching them shoot the R'lyeh scenes on a teetering canvas-flats-and-cardboard set in somebody's back yard, with stagehands shaking glittered fabric for the water, is an apotheosis of low-budget filmmaking.
