He's such an echt-boffin here, right down the stammery "By Jove!" as he and Newt are about to do something tremendously stupid (and wonderful) involving an alien brain and a homebuilt neural bridge, it'd come off as burlesque. I can't begrudge him the part: I love him in it. But man, that's a bit of fantasy casting I wasn't expecting going in.
I loved the mid-credits scene. And the dedication at the very end of the film.
